#startracking Monday January 3rd 6.30pm

Not a lot happening! Working hard on finding those well handicapped horses for the Spring Festival meetings. Shotgun Paddy is still 10/1 for Saturdays rescheduled Welsh Grand National and I’m having a look at ante post for the Lanzarote at Kempton.

#startracking updates

“The Stewards considered the running of VIRGILIO (FR) ridden by Harry Skelton and trained by Dan Skelton, which was pulled up. The Stewards noted the trainer’s explanation that the gelding had a breathing problem.” BHA Stewards 1st Jan.

“The Stewards considered the running of CAPARD KING ridden by Richie McLernon and trained by Jonjo Neill, which finished last beaten 16 ¾ lengths. The Stewards noted that the trainer’s representative had no explanation for the poor performance. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.” Too Keen? Weight? Ground?

Warren Greatrex | Thursday 31st December 2015 / 10:20 I was planning on having several runners over the next couple of days but the ground is so bad everywhere that I think we’ll just give most of ours a little mid-season break and have them refreshed and ready to roll again in a couple of weeks.”

“Owner-trainer Robert Waley-Cohen is praying for some dry weather to allow 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Long Run to make his hunter chase debut in the coming weeks.”

Willie Mullins admits he may face a race against time to give Champagne Fever a prep run ahead of the Cheltenham Festival. The talented grey is on the way back from injury but with the biggest jumps meeting of the year now looming on the horizon it could be touch and go whether Mullins has time to fit in a run beforehand. “He got a splint and then a little bit of a touch on his suspensory,” the County Carlow handler told RUK. “He’s making his way back but whether we get him out before the Festival or not I don’t know.” Sunday 3 January 2016 Racing UK
