Going @kemptonparkrace for Lanzarote Hurdle Day is Soft (Heavy in places) GS: C: 5.1, H: 4.6 on Friday at 13:45 TurfTrax ‏@TurfTrax

“We remain extremely optimistic that the re-scheduled Coral Welsh Grand National will go-ahead on Saturday 9th January despite the recent rain. The course is fit for racing (today) Friday after two dry, blustery days. The latest weather forecast for Saturday (as at 2pm on Friday) is for sporadic showers during the day. No course inspections are planned. The Coral Welsh Grand National will be run at 1.45pm to ensure the horses have the best possible ground.” Chepstow Racecourse Facebook

Kempton 1.25                    TAPACULO With Whataknight a non-runner Tapaculo will probably be odds on and therefore no bet. Hopefully a winning step to better things!

Kempton 2.35                    UN ACE In #startracking to win a chase off OR149 but had to put him up at 16/1 as a one star* selection in the Lanzarote Hurdle to stop looking foolish when he hacks up!

Chepstow 1.45                 SHOTGUN PADDY We put him up in #startracking to win the Welsh Grand National as a one star* selection @ 10/1 and we are going back in with a two star** each way bet at 11/1 with SkyBet ¼ the odds FIVE PLACES. Betfred are 5 places @ 10/1 and PP are four places @12/1. You pays your money….

Kempton 2.35                    BIVOUAC Looked good at 10/1 early in the week and with a field of only eight I still think this improver will have too much speed from the final flight and he is a two star** selection at 4/1 general. “Connections are confident there is much more to come, and his eye-catching work on the Lambourn Downs on Tuesday morning allows them plenty of confidence here.” Catching Pigeons Jan.8th

Fairyhouse 2.50                ALISIER D’IRLANDE This horse is gorgeous. Used to be with Philip Hobbs but the ubiquitous Roger Brookhouse has moved him to Ireland and Henry de Bromhead. He cruised to his Irish PtP win and kept hot company in his two races in England, C3 and Listed races, looked immature but went back to Ireland and won an egg and spoon maiden hurdle at odds on. Quite excited about him chasing but couldn’t possibly put him forward as a bet, Andrew Lynch in the saddle doesn’t exactly boost confidence!

Not surprised, hardly any runners recently. “Both Whataknight & Unowhatimeanharry are non runners @kemptonparkrace tomorrow after poor scopes.” Harry Fry Racing ‏@HarryFryRacing · 1.30pm Friday

WILLIE MULLINS has revealed there is every chance Faugheen could take on Nichols Canyon and Arctic Fire in the BHP Insurances Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown on January 24. Writing exclusively in his Racing Post column he said: “There is every chance that Faugheen will run. We’ll also have Nichols Canyon and Arctic Fire in the race and as of now all three owners are very keen to run their horses. Faugheen went straight to Cheltenham last year after winning the Christmas Hurdle and this time Rich [Ricci – owner] is bursting to run him in the Leopardstown race. That’s the way it’s looking although we’ll review the situation closer to the race.” Racing Post TONY O’HEHIR 2:44PM 8 JAN 2016
