#startracking Saturday April 23rd 11am

Of the horses I put up last night Forge has been the best supported. They are taking on Home of the Brave and hopefully we have got the right #FantasticMrFahey horses? Be lucky!!

#Saturdays Fab Four

Haydock 2.10             RIGHT TOUCH

Ripon 3.50                  TATLISU

Ripon 5.30                  EARLY BIRD

Sandown 5.55                        ALCALA

What a great climax (not words I’m used to hearing) to the jumps season. Fantastic viewing but trappy to find a bet. Lets start with the Whitbread Bet365 Chase.

I’ve had three on my shortlist for over a month namely Sausalito Sunrise, Le Reve and Carole’s Destrier. I thought the ground had gone against all three but this morning Sandown seems to have changed from Good (Good to Firm in places) to Good (Good to Soft in places) which brings them back into play. I can’t have anything that ran in the Grand National and Le Reve had a tough race so that’s the Spanish Archer. The trip, ground and the fact he is a fresh horse

are all in favour of Sausalito Sunrise, the downside is the 11st 12lb he has to lump round. He has however earned that dubious privilege and he is a one star* each way selection @ 25/1 general.

Caroles Destrier has been earmarked for this race since he won the London National over course and distance before Christmas. I took 14/1 for two stars** each way earlier in the week and I would now recommend the same two star** e/w wager @ 12/1 general.

This race is all about rhythm and jumping. Those fences could easily catch out the likes of Southfield Theatre (again!) and Measureofmydreams, the Druids Nephew bulldozed his way round Aintree and Hadrians approach is surely past his sell by date. You could give squeaks to the improving Henri Parri Morgan and last year’s winner Just a Par but I’m quite happy to stick with Sausalito sunrise and Carole’s Destrier.

As for the rest of the card I think Mullins can cause a stir with Voix du Reve, Valseur Lido and Vroum Vroum Mag but I don’t like the price of any of them! I’ll sit back and watch Sprinter Sacre and Un de Sceaux. Some Buckle is a #startracking horse from the Brookhouse/Poorhouse section who could pop up in the penultimate race, the novices handicap chase which just leaves the final race of the season, a twenty runner 2m4f C2 handicap hurdle, Yippee! Firstly I’m going to put up the top weight Kilcrea Vale who has looked capable of winning one of these C2 events since hacking up on hurdling debut! His mark has slipped to OR145 so he gets in here. He is an all or nothing horse so he is a one star* win selection @ 12/1 general for Nicky Henderson to spoil the party! However I think Paul Nicholls and Team Ditcheat have a real player down the bottom of the weights in the shape of ALCALA. His run when third to Barney Dwan over course and distance in March looks really strong. The second Potters Point was placed in the G1 novice at Aintree and the fourth, Two Taffs, hacked up in the Aintree C2 handicap! Alcala is a hold up horse and he will need the breaks in the straight but he is a two star** each way selection @ 12/1 with William Hill.

#startracking Saturday Updates

Doncaster 7.05           INVERMERE Could turn out to be a bargain buy at just £25K as she won her maiden at C4 level over Chester 7F having been placed over the same trip in her first three runs. Her final run was a close up sixth of fifteen in a competitive fillies nursery at Headquarters and she was only beaten in the last hundred yards. She could be another one who may come good in those 6F 3yo handicaps at Newmarket. May get 7F in time and yet to prove herself out of fillies only company.

A little surprised to find she’s taking the boys on in a C4 handicap over Doncasters straight mile! #FantasticMrFahey said in his sportinglife.com weekend news Invermere is a filly who has done well over the winter. I’m looking forward to her run in the Black And Veatch Handicap although at this stage I’m a little unsure over whether she’s a seven-furlong or a one-mile filly. She starts out over the longer trip here.” His enthusiasm warrants a one star* each way selection @ 12/1 with WH.

Doncaster 7.35           SIMPLY SHINING #FantasticMrFahey said in his sportinglife.com weekend news Simply Shining won the Yorkshire Water Charity Fillies’ Handicap last year and I thought she ran quite well on her reappearance at Nottingham. She’s entitled to improve for that run and if she does she’d be another who isn’t without a chance.” Young Adam McNamara makes his way from Ripon for this one ride and his seven pound claim will enhance the fillies chance. She is a one star* each way selection @ 12/1 with WH.
