#startracking Monday April 25th 7pm

I’ll have a look at Punchestown in the morning. I see Hanagan has three for Fahey at Nottingham but the one that interests me is ridden by the 7lb claimer Adam Mc Namara in the last.

Nottingham 5.20       EVANGELICAL My notes say “Cheveley Park Stud have a mare called Pious and this is her third consecutive offspring to be housed at Musley Bank. Exactly what I have written for her half-sister Postulant applies to Evangelical.I have included this young lady as her dam, Pious, has produced the likes of Solemn, Penitent and Supplicant all of whom were mid 80’s performers and if she is kept in training she could easily make a mockery of her current mark of 69. She is unlikely to get a yard over 6F and wants Good ground. She was green at times last year and if she has grown up she could easily run up a sequence.” Surely she can win a Fillies handicap off OR69.” This race ticks all the boxes and she is a three star*** selection @ 15/8 with PP.

Racing Post 3:34PM 25 APR 2016 G FORCE, who was withdrawn from stallion duties at Tally-Ho Stud in County Westmeath last month due to fertility issues, will return to training having been bought to run in the same colours as 1,000 Guineas entry Jet Setting. The deal was brokered by bloodstock agent John Kilbride and will see a syndicate put together with some of the founding members of Equinegrowthpartners to own the Group 1 winner. The son of Tamayuz will be trained by Jet Setting’s trainer Adrian Keatley and Kilbride said: “The syndicate has only been going for a few months and the first thing is that we get G Force back to the track and see where we are with him. He’s come to us in very good condition from Tally-Ho Stud. He’s let down a little bit but we’ll do plenty of work with him and get him rolling again. There’s no rush or expectation with him and we’re just so happy to get a horse who’s done what he’s done before.”

Of targets for the season ahead Kilbride added: “It’s hard to say at this stage but there’s the Rockingham Handicap at the Curragh on Derby day that might be suitable, or something along those lines. We imagine that he’s retained his ability, it’s just getting him back to that stage. We think there’s definitely some squeeze left in the lemon and there’s an upside with him. Fingers crossed he can do the business.”

#startracking Additions

Growl                                                        OR 89                    Peak 97               LWM –                 RPR 94

One of four to run in the C2 6F sprint at Ripon. Had a coming together with stablemate Eccleston out of the stalls which put them at the back of the main group and did well to weave a passage through. Of Fahey’s runners the newcomer to the yard, Growl (OR89), did best. He has some interesting 3yo form, 5L off Limato in a G3 at Ascot! Quicker ground, stiffer track and he could be a player. He won on debut at two but hasn’t won in ten runs since. A nice 0-90 C3 6F on quicker ground could restore confidence. He’s a hold up horse so hopefully Dr K. won’t take him to Chester!!

Flowing Clarets                                 OR 75                    Peak 75               LWM –                 RPR 74

Made her seasonal reappearance in a C4 handicap at Ripon on Good to Soft ground. Drawn on inside, missed break by two lengths, still two lengths off the back at halfway, had to go five wide and flew home. Still green as grass but this daughter of Pastoral Pursuits is quick. 6F C4/C5 and has to win off OR75!

Victory Bond                           OR 89                    Peak 97               LWM –                 RPR 94

Only seen once in 2015 when second to Algometer in a Newbury 8F C4 maiden that is beginning to look strong form. He is a big strapping son of Medician homebred by the Bloomsbury Stud. He made a winning debut at three in a C4 10F maiden at Ripon , literally head and shoulders above the rest, he won by 7L and 10L in the style of a Group horse and 10F looks to be his trip.

#startracking Saturdays Results

Both handicaps at Haydock, 2.10 and 3.20, involved coming round the tight left hand hairpin bend then everybody congregated on the far rail. Luck played a big part in both results. Case for false rail?

Haydock 2.10             RIGHT TOUCH             10th      8/1        three star*** win selection @ 8/1 with Ladbrokes.

Pushed early to get prominent position from stall 10 of 13. Prominent and just about led 1F out, one pace. Used too much too soon? Prefer straight 7F with something to aim at.

Haydock 2.10             WITHERNSEA                  2nd        14/1      Watching Brief.

Cracking run on ground thought to be too quick. Held up, SammyJo got a good run through and only Predominance too good. He’ll be up another 3/4lbs for this. Needs to nail a C2 7f Handicap sooner rather than later.

Haydock 3.20             GABRIALS KAKA            12th      6/1JF    one star* win selection @ 9/1 with Coral, 8/1 general. The first three home came from the back in a race that got very messy about 2F from home. Kaka spent much of the race in the box seat but Queally was caught out when the leader came back in his lap. He and a series of others were hampered and the chance was gone.

Ripon 3.50      All bar one of 13 chose to race on the stands rail. First four home drawn 8, 14, 9 & 12!

Ripon 3.50                  TATLISU                              7th        6/1      one star* each way selection @ 7/1 with Betfred and Coral. Tacked across from stall 6, no cover in midfield, pushed from 3F out, some sort of chance 1½F out, kept on one pace. Lot of whip waving from young McNamara! May get dropped a pound?

Ripon 3.50                  ECCLESTON                      9th        4/1Fav one star win* selection @ 8/1 with Coral.

Halved in price. Had a coming together with stablemate Growl out of the stalls which put them at the back of the main group. Had to follow Growl through when no chance 1F out eased off. Tony Hamilton, the rider of ECCLESTON, unplaced, reported that the gelding was denied a clear run.” BHA Stewards Report Could easily land one of these C2 6F sprints but probably not a big one. Ayr Bronze, Great St.Wilfred Consolation etc.etc.

Of Fahey’s other two runners the newcomer to the yard, Growl (OR89), did best. He has some interesting 3yo form, 5L off Limato in a G3 at Ascot! Quicker ground, stiffer track and he could be a player. No show from Alben Star.

Ripon 4.55                  UNDER ATTACK             2nd        10/3      At 2/1 with Betfred he is a one star win* selection.

Kept away from the others on the way to and at the start in case he boiled over which suggests he is a nervous type. Took trail from winner, came to challenge 2F out but his bigger opponent just kicked and was gone. Under Attack has the attitude of a trier and surely this gelded son of Dubawi can pick up a C4+ handicap off OR80 10/12F?

Ripon 5.30                  EARLY BIRD                      7th        4/1        one star* win wager here @ 6/1 with Ladbrokes.

Strange. Watching in real time I thought she was going to win 1½F out! Looked to be travelling well, get a gap on the rail and home you go! Didn’t get the gap and her action went a bit in the last two hundred yards of Ripon’s undulations! Flat track, quicker ground, 5F may get 6F, C4 fillies handicap.

Leicester 3.25             EAST INDIES                    6th        6/1      Watching Brief but put him in your #startracker.

Raced wide, led after 2F, asked 2½F out, nothing, beaten. Settled OK in front, maybe 10F is his trip on better ground?

Leicester 4.00             HOME OF THE BRAVE 1st       11/4Fav three star*** win selection @ 15/8 with PP.

Led from the go, made all, impressive. Next stop the Lockinge and why not?”Home Of The Brave is in at Leicester and he is ready for a run, in fact I’m desperate to run him,” Palmer wrote in his Betfair blog. “He is zinging at home and couldn’t be more ready for a run.”

Leicester 5.10             ULYSSES                      2nd        9/4      two star** win selection.

Tough to know what to make of this race, a C5 10F maiden at Leicester? The winner Imperial Aviator was the most experienced, having had three placed runs on the AW including a C3 event and he and Ulysses came 6L clear of the third, the hype horse UAE Prince. Ulysses attempted to make all and the front pair quickened at the 2F pole with the selection beaten half a length. Stoutes other pair Yangtze and Autocratic both kept on well without ever being competitive in 4th and 5th.

Doncaster 6.35           FORGE                                 1st        5/6Fav two star** win selection @ 5/2 with PP.

Hello! Here is a proper racehorse. Backed into odds on and with reason! He was prominent, tanking along and when Richard Kingscote let the handbrake off he stretched 5L clear. This was a C4 maiden on Good to Soft over Doncaster’s straight 7F and heaven knows what he beat but he has plenty of size about him, settled and quickened. A gallop report in sportinglife.com last august said FORGE is a nice colt and the brother to talented filly Radiator looked the part clearing five to six clear of KOKONI while still on the bridle. The son of Dubawi looks to be going the right way but is from a family with attitude.” Well he seems to have grown up and he must surely step up in grade next time out.

Doncaster 7.05           INVERMERE                8th        16/1      one star* each way selection @ 12/1 with WH.

Drawn 1, raced in middle of track, midfield, asked 2F out, limited response, limited talent. Back to 7F and fillies only.

Doncaster 7.35           SIMPLY SHINING           3rd        4/1 (only 6 ran!) one star* each way selection @ 10/1 with WH. Led on rail, headed furlong pole, kept on third. Probably needs quicker ground? OR80 is workable!

Sandown 4.10                        SAUSALITO SUNRISE 3rd        20/1      one star* each way selection @ 25/1 general. Fabulous run from a fabulous staying chaser. Hard to know what he targets next season with a handicap mark in the 150’s? He goes well at Cheltenham on Good to Soft and he would obviously get in the Grand National.

Sandown 4.10                        CAROLES DESTRIER     11th      12/1      two star** e/w wager @ 12/1 general. Was creeping into it on the second circuit but didn’t jump well enough to get competitive.

Sandown 5.55            KILCREA VALE            9th        8/1      one star* win selection @ 12/1

Now they tell me he will be a chaser!! I just can’t get Henderson right at all!!

Sandown 5.55            ALCALA                       Non Runner   two star** each way selection @ 12/1 with William Hill.

#FantasticMr FaheyLastSaturdayOverview

A really poor Saturday for #FantasticMr Fahey with just the one winner from 22 runners and he won by a short head and a nose! On Sunday better, 2 from 5. With the exception of Withernsea, who ran well on quicker than ideal ground, it was his senior C2/C3 handicappers letting him down.
