Update @EpsomRacecourse Oaks Day – Good to Soft (Soft in pls) GS: 6.4 (Standside 6.4 Farside 6.0) Friday 09:00

TurfTrax ‏@TurfTrax

Quite an exciting days racing with every possibility they will race on the Stands side in the straight at Epsom, if the Going Stick readings are to be believed.

There has been plenty of market interest in those I put up last night. Free Code is now a top priced 7/1 favourite from 10/1, although there is a 10p in the £ Rule 4 because Crazy Chic is out. Stamp Hill is now 4/1 favourite from last nights advised 6/1 and Fidaawy has been nibbled at with only Ladbrokes holding the 4/1. Even Miss Van Gogh has been supported with the double figures gone and now a top priced 9/1 general.

I have added #FantasticMrFahey’s bits from sportinglife.com and I have put a couple more up for this afternoon.

Epsom 2.35                             IMSHIVALLA She is an OnlyIf… horse OR89 88 Only If… back to OR85, soft ground, C3/4, 8/9F. Here it is 10F, C2 and she runs off OR88! Although ground and course are fine she is a Watching Brief.

Great to see the talented George Chaloner back in the saddle and hopefully riding winners for Richard Fahey.

#FantasticMrFahey “Imshivalla heads down to Epsom for the Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap. I do think the handicapper has her but she’ll love the ground and the track down there. That can be a big plus as horses are capable of running above themselves at Epsom.”

Catterick 3.35                         INVERMERE The Roger Varian filly, Owaseyf, could be special but her apart Invermere has plenty going for her. Fillies only, grade C4, 7F although the ground (Good to Firm) is a bit of an unknown. At 10/1 with WH she is a one star* win selection.

#FantasticMrFaheyInvermere runs in the EBF Stallions Breeding Winners Fillies’ Handicap. She was very disappointing on her reappearance at Doncaster as she’d been working very well prior to the race. We’re pleased with her again now and I hope we see more. It’s a big day for her”

My notes say “INVERMERE Could turn out to be a bargain buy at just £25K as she won her maiden at C4 level over Chester 7F  having been placed over the same trip in her first three runs. Her final run was a close up sixth of fifteen in a competitive fillies nursery at Headquarters and she was only beaten in the last hundred yards. She could be another one who may come good in those 6F 3yo handicaps at Newmarket. May get 7F in time and yet to prove herself out of fillies only company.

A little surprised to find she’s taking the boys on in a C4 handicap over Doncasters straight mile! #FantasticMrFahey said in his sportinglife.com weekend news Invermere is a filly who has done well over the winter. I’m looking forward to her run in the Black And Veatch Handicap although at this stage I’m a little unsure over whether she’s a seven-furlong or a one-mile filly. She starts out over the longer trip here.” Doncaster 7.05      INVERMERE 8th 16/1 Drawn 1, raced in middle of track, midfield, asked 2F out, limited response, limited talent. Back to 7F and fillies only.”

Doncaster 7.10                       YA JAMMEEL Tough maiden to make your debut in and the stable vibes are distinctly lukewarm. Watching Brief.

#FantasticMrFaheyOur final two runners are both at Doncaster. Ya Jammeel makes his debut in the Buckingham Insurance Fighting Cancer With WPCC Maiden Stakes and hasn’t shown a lot at home. He’s by Dubawi and in my experience they can often need a run to wake them up. I hope he surprises us and shows more here than we see at home.”

Doncaster 8.40                       BAHAMIAN SUNSHINE Not much better than selling class and is on the OnlyIf… list. Only if C6 Seller or claimer 6F. Watching Brief.

#FantasticMrFaheyBahamian Sunrise is exactly what it says on the tin – there are no secrets with him. He’s won a couple of races this season and it could be the handicapper has him in his grip now but we’ll try again in the Sun Handicap.”

Catterick 1.50                         QUEEN KINDLY Well, well #FantasticMrFahey has a Frankel filly. Homebred by Rabbah bloodstock out of the speedy Lady of the Desert. Should be a most enjoyable Watching Brief.

“There’s been plenty written already about Queen Kindly who makes her debut in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Catterick on Friday. She’s from the first crop of Frankel and has inherited good speed from both her father and mother, who was very fast and a Group Two winner as a juvenile. We do like this filly an awful lot, she’s done everything very easily at home. She’s not the biggest in the world but I’m expecting her to run a big race here.”

Epsom 2.35                             DARSHINI Don’t quite know where we are with this chap? Notes say “drying ground is a bonus it’s just that he doesn’t do anything quickly!” and “Get back on a galloping track!”. Although I thought “Could well have a York/Ascot C2 10F handicap in him. John Smiths at York (Sat. July 9th) would suit this prominent racing stayer. May need another win to get in?” I have written before “I am not sure he is a Chester horse. He’ll come from off the pace and needs to wind up.” Which worries me round the idiosyncratic Epsom. Watching Brief.

#SuperStoute 3yo

Doncaster 7.10                       FIDAAWY Most interesting horse of the day! I am gobsmacked to see this Shadwell home bred son of New Approach has been gelded! Mind you having watched the video of his debut again perhaps I can see why! Awkward out of the stalls, took ages to settle but from three furlongs out he was mighty impressive before coming home under hands and heels in the last hundred yards. Ted Durcan goes to Doncaster to ride him tonight and I’d expecting one of two runs. Either, real quality and he hacks up, in what is a warm maiden, or he shows immaturity and attitude and does all his best work late on.

Doncaster 7.10                       EL HAYEM Runs in the same race as stablemate Fidaawy (see above) and much as I expect to see an improved run has to be a Watching Brief.

“Last run                El Hayem                               4th           16/1 £350K yearling. Late may foal. Will improve.”

Goodwood 8.50                     DELVE Top priced at even money but with fillies from Juddmonte, Al Shaqab and Godolphin in opposition much as I think she will go close for Richard Kingscote has to be a Watching Brief.

Notes say “One race as a 2yo for this homebred daughter of Dansili. Once again I expect this race to be another step in Delves’s education given by head teacher, Ryan Moore. 2nd      6/1 Led, headed, fought back, 5L back to 3rd. Ran to OR90ish. Will get further and more to come but as a filly, Win races or Black Type?”

Doncaster 6.10                       HAMMER GUN Her Majesty starts this colt handicapping in a 12F, 0-75 3yo event, both facts I like and @ 4/1 with PP he is a one star* win selection.

Notes say “ Definite signs of ability on debut as 2yo at Leicester when given a hands and heels introduction. Knew much more second time out in an 8½F C5 maiden at Nottingham and did best of the rest behind the very impressive Derby hope Mr Khalid. Should improve for step up to 10F on 3yo debut, has Ted Durcan on board. 4th    11/2 Messy at start. Pushed to gather pace, followed favourite through, kept on one pace. OR74 should be OK.

In case you missed it this is what I posted last night!

Doncaster 7.40                       FREE CODE       Went in #startracker after his seasonal debut at Newmarkets Craven meeting, FREE CODE didn’t get the clearest runs and could be a player in a C2 7F handicap on a flat track.” OR92 90 2lbs drop might open some possibilities?

His last victory was at Doncaster over 7F on Good to Firm with Graham Gibbons riding in June of last year! He is just a 1lb higher here so welcome to Groundhog Day? Has to be a player. Two stars** each way @ 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

Epsom 3.45                             SPRING OFFENSIVE A likeable horse who has already won twice this season and his mark has gone up seven pounds. OR83 87 88 90 Well drawn in stall 4 but to win would take a career best but he is improving. However a couple of notes I’ve written bother me. “He has run well at flat tracks such as Redcar and especially Musselburgh where the longer straights help him organise his powerful finish. C3 8F with some guaranteed pace would be ideal but he could be competitive up in grade and maybe even 9/10F. Good ground is ideal.” Epsom isn’t the best place to “get organised” and the ground may be a bit soft for him. Watching Brief.

#FantasticMrFaheySpring Offensive is one of two runners for the yard in the Investec Mile. He’ll be looking for a lifetime best to win this form a mark of 91 but is in good form and the ground is okay for him – as should be the track.”

Epsom 3.45                             MISS VAN GOGH Another having a good season. Won at Nottingham but didn’t see out the 10F last time. Steps back to 8 ½ F and has a few things going for her. A decent draw in stall 3, Paul Hanagan in the saddle who is three from three on her and she won’t mind the recent rain. Well worth two stars** each way @ 11/1 with PP.

#FantasticMrFaheyWe also run Miss Van Gogh. I was very happy with her run at Doncaster the last day where through nobody’s fault she found herself further back than ideal and was doing all her best work at the finish. She’s another who will handle it around here and the more rain the better for her. She’s in good form.”

Catterick 4.45                         LUIS VAZ DE TORRES Low grade sprinter who probably needs the AW or C5 or both to get back in the winners enclosure! Watching Brief.

#FantasticMrFaheyWe really don’t know where we are with Luis Vaz De Torres right now. We’ve given him a bit of a break to try and freshen him up and he’s ready to return in the Start Your Racing UK Free Trial Handicap. We’ll see what happens but he has the ability to win races like this.”

Epsom 5.50                             STAMP HILL I really fancy this horse who ran a cracker at Goodwood last time from a dreadful draw. Notes say “Acquired in Ireland from Johnny Murtagh/Andrew Tinkler in the middle of last season and he runs in the colours of the “Merchants and Missionaries”. A new syndicate to me but they have some very nice horses and I am currently trying to find out who exactly are the Merchants and Missionaries? Since joining Fahey Stamp Hill was second in a C4 maiden at Thirsk , then got up in the shadow of the post in a 6F C4 maiden on soft ground at Chester. This gelded son of Zoffany should pay his way in 6/7F handicaps. C2 7F 3yo should be fine.” Won’t mind Soft in the going and better drawn here, 5 out of 9, I make him a three star*** NAP win selection @ 6/1 general and hope George Chaloner can get the decent winner he deserves.

#FantasticMrFaheyStamp Hill ran well form a bad draw on his latest start at Goodwood. He could never slot in that day but stayed on well. I’d have thought he’d have a solid each-way chance in the closing Investec Specialist Bank Handicap.”

Doncaster 7.10                       FIDAAWY Most interesting horse of the day! Two star** win @ 4/1 general. Tell you why tomorrow or watch his only race last year at Newmarket (Jockey Club videos) when backed off the boards!
