#startracking Monday June 13th 1.30pm

Better just have a quick look at today’s runners. Definitely before the Lord Mayors Show that is Royal Ascot!

Carlisle 2.00                BOUNDSY                          2yo who just held on last time. Not easy to win under a penalty, Adam MacNamara takes 7lb off this son of Dandy Man. Watching Brief.

Carlisle 2.00                OUR BOY JOHN              Cheap £9K son of Dandy Man on debut. Watching Brief.

Carlisle 2.30                EISHA FLOWER              Non-runner

Carlisle 2.30                DAVIDS DUCHESS        This daughter of Zebedee was an excellent fourth in last season’s 2yo Super Sprint at Newbury and really ought to be good enough to win a C5 maiden. Has an OR80 which might over estimate her talent but should be good enough to win this, was a respectable second on 3yo return. Two star** win @ 15/8 generally.

Carlisle 3.30                IN MY PLACE                   Up 3lb for his win last time and Adam MacNamara is legged up to take 7lb off. Couldn’t be too confident, improver (?) but low grade sprinter. Watching Brief.

Carlisle 4.30                ZAINA RIZEENA          Notebook says “Her 2yo form of 316 suggests she should be capable of picking up a C4/5 mile handicap especially if it is restricted to 3yo’s, fillies or both!” Carlisle is a stiff 7F so why not? One star* each way @ 12/1 with Coral.

Thirsk 2.45                  IN FIRST PLACE           2yo has had two runs and already gone in many a notebook. Has to give weight away here due to his purchase price. 5/2 a bit tight. Nurseries perhaps? Watching Brief.

Thirsk 4.45                  PRYING PANDORA     Notebook says “Rattled home on debut when Paul Hanagan persuaded her to overtake eight horses in the last three hundred yards and snatch third place in a C6 maiden on the grass at Lingfield. Pushed  early on by David Nolan to get a position she still had to go three wide to get a run and stable companion Mustique, at three times the price, had got first run and she was second over 6F at Ripon. Stepped up a furlong and up a grade to C4 she ran on well to grab second at Ayr having been outpaced two furlongs out and then her most promising run to date when second to another stable mate, Garcia, over 7F in a C3 at York on Good to Soft. Her pedigree says a mile should be her maximum trip but she has a nice attitude and that mark of OR75 is very likeable!” Messy run last time and those form figures of 3222-3 a little worrying, and some southern raiders here. Watching Brief.

Thirsk 5.45                  FIREDANSER               Watching Brief.

Nottingham 6.40       PRIVATE DANCER      Just didn’t take the bend at Wetherby. BHA Stewards “Tony Hamilton, the rider of PRIVATE MATTER, unplaced, reported that the colt hung badly right on the bend. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.” Cheveley Park son of Mayson showed enough speed to be worth a one star* win ‘ 7/2 general.

Nottingham 7.10       ONE BOY                     Watching Brief.

Nottingham 7.40       EVANGELICAL             Steps up a grade, a furlong and handicapper has put her up 9lbs to OR78. Friendless in the early market but I was impressed last time, “Half reared, missed break. Steadily made ground up, led 1F out, won comfortably, impressive.” Worth a two star** wager @ 9/4 general.

Carlisle 2.30                BROCKHOLES             Watching Brief.

Windsor 8.20              POINTEL                             Eye catching first time up but disappointed at Windsor. This run gets him his handicap mark. Watching Brief.

Windsor 8.20              DIVINE QUICKSTEP    Ballymacoll Stud home bred daughter of Dansili out of a Sadlers Wells mare. Ted Durcan rides. Watching Brief.

Windsor 8.20              FASHION DESIGN       Messrs Tabor and Smith own this daughter of Montjeu. Richard Kingscote rides. Watching Brief.

Right, now onto Royal Ascot!

I am not inspired by the first two days, indeed the whole meeting seems to be short of headline acts!
