#FantasticMrFahey Todays Runners

Ripon 8.15      CARNAGEO Won over 8F here in a C5 8F 3yo handicap off OR68 two runs back. Now competes off OR77 over two furlongs further in C3 as the only 3yo against some seasoned campaigners, 3yo’s do however get a 9lbs allowance. On the grounds Carnageo is improving for racing, has course form (Remember- Ripon “The Yorkshire track has more humps and bumps than a BMX circuit and is a venue that doesn’t suit all horses. Course form is worth its weight in gold.” AWJ Weekender 12/8), that 9lbs allowance and looks in better current form than his rivals he is a one star* win selection @ 4/1 general.

CARNAGEO – FULL NOTEBOOK – Another purchase from the Arquana/Saint Cloud Breeze-ups he was given time to acclimatise and then had three runs in five weeks in October/November. None of them were anything special but now gelded he is a big, scopey son of Pivotal and looks sure to leave his present mark of OR70 well behind when growing into his frame and this handicapping project should be best around a mile with a bit of give in the ground. He runs for the Up For Anything Syndicate, which may well sum this horse up!

Made his 3yo debut in a C5 7 1/2F handicap at Beverley. Was restless in the stalls just before the off, missed the break, slow to gather pace, last. Stayed on really strongly and my notes say “Winner waiting to happen at 8F”! Looks to be competitive in a C5 0-70 3yo classified stakes, the start will clearly be important.

Beverley 2.20       CARNAGEO Here is what I put in the Richard Fahey Alternative Unofficial Stable Tour, “Another purchase from the Arquana/Saint Cloud Breeze-ups he was given time to acclimatise and then had three runs in five weeks in October/November. None of them were anything special but now gelded he is a big, scopey son of Pivotal and looks sure to leave his present mark of OR70 well behind when growing into his frame and this handicapping project should be best around a mile with a bit of give in the ground. He runs for the Up For Anything Syndicate, which may well sum this horse up!” Well he is in a 7½F, 0-70, Soft ground Beverley C5 3yo handicap. Tony Hamilton rides and they are in stall 6 of 10. Looks about spot on, Carnageo is a three star*** win selection @ 7/1 general

CARNAGEO (Beverley, 21 April) By no means one of Richard Fahey’s bright young things but there are plenty of low-grade three-year-old handicaps in the north to exploit. Carnageo showed precious little on his previous start, beating only one home at Wolverhampton (25-1), and he still looked pretty raw here, blowing the start and always struggling to play catch-up. The penny eventually dropped and Carnageo ran on into fifth behind enterprisingly ridden Billy Roberts and the handicapper may see fit to drop him a little from this opening mark of 70. Eyecatchers Alan Thomson ATR Tuesday 26 April

3rd           11/2 Out better, pushed to get prominent, 2nd, asked 2½F out, kept on, probably too much too early. Improving for racing.

Ripon 7.00           CARNAGEO Can’t ask for much more really! C5, 8F, Good ground, 0-70 off OR68. Has to be a two star** each way selection @ 10/1 with. 1st          15/2 Drawn wide, out OK, pushed to get position, 2nd, travelled into straight, led 2F out, comfortably by 6L! Stayed on strongly, may get 10F. OR68 +6lb penalty. Three imminent entries suggesting they are going to run him under the penalty.

Ayr 1.45          CARSON CITY As is often the case in these Northern 2yo maidens it is a match, Fahey v Johnston. Carson City has run twice finishing second on both occasions and this is his third run, getting him a handicap mark.

Watching Brief.

I did notice going through this week’s entries that as July begins so do the NURSERIES.

I think #FantasticMrFahey could clean up in those north of Nottingham! His 2yo’s have taken a little longer to come to the boil than usual and have needed a run and he could have some well ahead of the handicapper. Watch the market!

Ayr 5.30          WOOTTON VALE Not my favourite betting medium, a C6 apprentice handicap! This £50K son of yard hero Wootton Bassett did absolutely nothing in three runs as a 2yo and has been gelded and goes handicapping off just OR50 and Sophie Killoran (?!), making her debut for #FantasticMrFahey, takes three pounds off. Very much a Watching Brief.

ARTHENUS is going to run in The John Smiths Cup at York next Saturday. He ran a blinder at Royal Ascot where he came from a long way off the pace to finish fourth. He has a lot of ability and came good about this time last year. He looks so well and catches the eye every morning but has given us a couple of disappointing days this year.”

“Before then it’s the July meeting at Newmarket and we could run a couple in the feature July Cup, we’ll just have to see what the ground is like. DON’T TOUCH is on track for the race and I’ve been happy with him since Salisbury. He worked with Eastern Impact on Thursday morning and went well.” Get on at 12/1 e/w NOW with BetFred or William Hill
