Looks like I’ve had a senior moment, again! Managed to put up two non-runners in yesterday’s Ante Post piece! They were already out by the time I blogged so no financial damage.
Growl is still in the Stewards Cup over 6F at Goodwood but that race really is a lottery. I am not sure he has the speed for a quick 6F but as in form improving horse has to be considered.
Tabarrak is in the Betfred Mile also at Goodwood and is currently number 34 on the list which could get him in. (16/1 with Coral & Betfred) Yesterday Tabarrak’s full sister, The Wagon Wheel, made her 2yo debut winning over 7F at Beverley and she is trained by, of course, #FantasticMrFahey!! The Wagon Wheel was a Tatt’s Book 1 purchase for£75K, less than half the price Tabarrak cost!
#FantasticMrFahey Yesterday I blogged “I am not sure #FantasticMrFahey knows where he is with his 2yo’s, winners yes, well backed winners no!” So he immediately bangs in a well-supported 2yo in the shape of the aforementioned The Wagon Wheel and that’s two winning 2yo debutantes in two days!
#FantasticMrFahey had just the one winner yesterday, the 2yo @ 11/10Fav, from seven runners. Another Touch didn’t have a clear run and the handicapper probably has Dolphin Vista, who couldn’t get a prominent position and maybe needs C3. Invermere was third and probably needs a sharp left handed course, 7F, OR75 and he’ll be back in the winner’s enclosure.
Two runners today for #FantasticMrFahey
Musselburgh 4.15 NOVINOPHOBIA My early season notes said “I can see him making all on Good to Firm over a sharp 7F at the likes of Catterick, Musselburgh”. He’s drawn widest, 8 of 8, but if Jack Garritty can bang him out he is a player here and a two star** win selection @ 5/2 with Coral.
Nottingham 7.10 YOSEMITE Been waiting for this one all season. The notes say “This daughter of Makfi was snapped up for just 24K euros at the Arquana/Saint Cloud Breeze-ups and races in the colours of new syndicate on the block, Merchants and Missionaries. Well supported on debut she was squeezed for room at the furlong pole but kept on to finish second over 6F at Carlisle, a course the #amazingMrFahey rarely sends a bad horse to. May have bumped into one at Kempton on the AW, Ralph Beckett’s newcomer Nassuvian Pearl, when odds on and in the hands of Jamie Spencer. Yosemite lost her maiden tag at Goodwood in a 6F C5 maiden when Paul Hanagan got her back up to beat Andar by a neck. No world beater but surely that OR77 underestimates her talent. Up to a mile and up to C3?” Tony Hamilton takes the ride and she is in a C4 6F all age handicap at Nottingham on Good to Firm ground. Her 2yo form hasn’t been franked at all making her mark looking right if not a few pounds too much. So @ just 5/1 she has to be a Watching Brief.
I suggested yesterday keeping an eye on Keith Dalgleish. “In the last fourteen days he has sent out twenty runners returned at odds of 5/1 and less, nine of them have won and eight of them won in Scotland!! Racing today at Ayr and Dalgleish has 4.40 Falcon Fire (6/4) and 5.10 Toffee Apple (5/4) and possibly 2.30 Forever a Lady (5/1 ish)” Well the two shorties got turned over but Forever a Lady won @ 9/2 as did Archie’s Advice @ 4/1. Making his stats 24 suitable runners, 11 winners, ten of them in Scotland.
At Musselburgh today he saddles 2:15 Incurs Four Faults (11/4 general) 3:15 Chookie’s Lass (currently 8/1)
3:15 Farkle Minkus (currently 20/1) 4:15 Circuitous (currently 11/2) 4:45 Roc De Prince (currently 5/2, 11/4 with PP). That makes Incurs Four Faults and Roc de Prince as candidates and possibly Circuitous.
Chelmsford 6.50 DOLLAR REWARD Returns to the sand, stays at 7F, Uncle Ted rides and drawn 8 of 9. Considering the yards form quite likely to finish 2nd! Timeform sums him up nicely “Got better with each run at 2 yrs, winning 7f Wolverhampton maiden final start. Type to do even better in handicaps in 2016.” This is his first go at all aged handicaps and he is worth a one star* win @ 10/3 with PP.
